It provides all the power I need, nice musical sound and although I am not a fan of the chip (ESS Sabre) it contains (my Yamaha CD-S300 gives me a warmer, more musical sound), it is a rock solid unit, one that I expect will give me years of pleasure, just as my prior Yamaha amp did. AX-592Subjectively, it has an open, clean sound that never sounds distorted at any volume levels I've had it at. The AX-592 handles all sorts of music: orchestral, jazz, rock wonderfully. After a few days with it, I fell in love with it. No lack of power, heavy high-quality construction, clean simple design. But in mixes damn wrong (too high in acute low levels or between crappy instrumentals), the defects are accentuated and listening quickly becomes puzzle. Yamaha's original linear damping circuit has been adopted, and the internal impedance has been thoroughly reduced by using a lot of extremely thick wires, etc., so that a stable damping factor independent of the frequency change of the source can be realized. On recordings / mixes treated, listening is a treat. Moreover, the AX-592 uses a discrete circuit to reduce noise in actual use to 1 / 3 and keep output impedance low.
